September 2011 – Orphanage Visits – Dental Hygiene Support
THIS IS A STORY OF GIVING FROM MY DENTIST OF 25 YEARS, RICHARD MINC, WHO RUNS WATTLE TREE DENTAL CLINIC IN MALVERN
by Dennis Edwards
Richard has kindly accepted the challenge of donating $50.00 a year to sponsor one of our children for the next ten (10) years for which we are eternally grateful. But more importantly he has spread the word to his colleagues at his clinic and low and behold I get a phone call from Anne Di Paolo.
Anne is one of Michael's Hygienists and she tells me that they have bundles of toothbrushes and toothpaste donated by their suppliers for the children. So now we have almost all of our children that have their own tooth Brush and a supply of tooth paste which is in the hands of the Nuns to dispense each day to the children.
SEPTEMBER 2011 – ORPHANAGE VISITS – VUNG TAU
In September 2011 we returned to Vietnam to visit each of our Orphanages to review their needs and to check on the children that we have sponsored under our new Education Scholarships that we have commenced in May this year.
We always visit this Orphanage even thought we are not a sponsor of children for education as they are a place that always have a great need. They always have a huge number of babies this year around 80 children under one (1) year old that are crying out for someone to adopt them.
What a pity AUSTRALIA is not on the list. Sadly they will hopefully end up in the USA, France or Canada!

A STORY OF LOVE - GLENYS & JACK WINCHESTER FIND AN ORPHAN GIRL TO LOVE
This is what this campaign is all about a wonderful mother and father of two grown children and a grandchild of their own! Yet they can find it in their hearts to say to this wonderful young orphan girl of 14 years, my dear girl we want to sponsor you and we want to be your de facto Mum & Dad!
I can still hear the sound of the mobile phone ringing in my ears when Glenys was in the bus calling her children in Australia and telling them that they had a new sister! My heart exploded with love and true emotion!
The little boy in these photos is a story in himself, we found him one year ago in a garbage bin fly blown and being eaten by ants. He is a miracle boy; he has been nurtured and loved by Minh and the team at this pagoda for the past year and look at him now he is a gorgeous boy who now, with love and tender care, has a life and a future!
We moved on to Nha Trang via Mui Ne where we had a couple of days to chill and catch our breath. We have two Orphanages in this city and we are very determined to work with these children who are living in a very remote area with very little support. Minh is the Nun at this pagoda; she is such a wonderful person who works tirelessly to help her 60 odd children with only volunteer labor from the local Buddhist community. She has trouble getting a sister to help her as these young women are too afraid to live so far from the city.
As usual we met the Nun Minh at their local market and purchased the essential food stuffs such as rice, noodles, cooking oil, mushrooms, salt, soy sauce and the like. This is always a joy as, besides the need for education, we have a real responsibility to help with food and items of need as well.
This time we had some additional expenses for the repair of Minh Hai's computer that was damaged by a lightning strike and blew up the power supply, plus we also purchased a couple of special anti–lightning strike power boards for them to protect their other electrical items such as fridges and microwave ovens.
Anyway we had a wonderful visit as always spending time with the children giving them gifts of toys such as reading books, pick-up-sticks, knuckles or jacks, and animal stamps that we had purchased for them in Australia.
But she continues to achieve and we are very determined to keep supporting her and her wonderful children. She has been a personal inspiration to me; Minh has given me so much help and strength throughout my battle with brain cancer that I know she and I are connected in some way together in this mission of love for the children.
When we were in Mui Ne we made a connection with a wonderful couple who were on their HONEYMOON in Vietnam. Their names are Michelle and Dan Sedunary from Melbourne. We connected immediately and we were so please to spend time with them. We got chatting and before we knew it they were also heading to Nha Trang so we exchanged life stories and phone numbers. They met us in Nha Trang so obviously we shared the joy of visiting the Orphans and they will be lifelong friends and we are sure they will spread the word and be lifelong supporters of our orphans.

ANOTHER STORY OF LOVE BARB REDMAN MEETS HER SPONSORED CHILD IN A REMOTE VILLAGE IN CENTRAL VIETNAM
Barb is a wonderful Mother of four (4) grown up children in Australia, but hey she has travelled with Grasshopper or the Happy Buddha all the way to Vietnam to see a child that she had sponsored on my recommendation.
As you can see he is a wonderful young boy who is starting his first year of school with Barb's sponsorship for just $50.00 a year for the next 10 years. What a joy she will see him grow and get to know him like a distant Mother. I am sure we will see them featured on this blog for many years to come! So come on people join the team and SPONSOR a child and get the same love and joy in return!
Not sure if he will ever play football for Richmond Barb! But hey, if his skills improve at the rate they did the day we gave him that football I would not be all surprised!
